New Flash Floods Hit Battered Central Texas
Andrea Powell
Heavy rain fell on Sunday across central Texas resulting in more flash flooding.
Battered Kerr County issued a code red alert over the weekend as slow-moving thunderstorms entered the area, just 10 days after catastrophic flooding killed over 130 adults and children- with more than 160 still missing.
Search efforts were paused as rescuers were told to evacuate the area around the Guadalupe River immediately.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for several counties, including Kerr.
Ingram Fire Department posted an urgent message to residents to stay off the roads and away from river beds. They said, "We are seeing the same weather pattern today that we experienced on July 4th—and we know how quickly that turned deadly."
Up to nine inches of rain fell in some areas causing flooding along Llano, Lampasas and San Saba rivers.
Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, wrote on X, "Texas Task Force One and Texas Parks & Wildlife are making swift water rescues in Lampasas County. We continue to monitor all counties with a focus on saving lives."
Texas Task Force 1 has already rescued dozens of Texans in the Lampasas area.
