Heartworm-Positive Shelter Dog Saved on Flight to Freedom Finds Forever Home
Andrea Powell
Do you remember sweet Panda from our Save A Heart Flight back in April?
She has the most unique coloring and adorable face. Panda went from being overlooked in a crowded shelter to overjoyed in her new home.

Read how your donations provided her with a one-way ticket to freedom in New Jersey and gave her the happily ever after she deserves.
The heartworm-positive dog was flown out an overcrowded shelter in Alabama to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center on April 29 on our Save A Heart Flight. The following day she went home with a loving couple as a foster to adopt.

After receiving all the necessary treatment for heartworm disease, she was adopted by the couple and is living her best life.

Her mom, Janet, told the shelter they renamed her "Maizie", which holds a special meaning for them. "Maizie is softer sounding and timeless from Scottish origin (16th century), meaning pearl. Also, I adopted her May 1st, my maiden name is Mason and the Z is from Weezy’s name, my rescue dog from Louisiana, (St Huberts) who just passed. She has responded well to it and it has a lot of meaning for me, a win win!!"

The sweet dog steals the heart of everyone she meets and is often praised for her unique markings. Some people yell their compliments out the window as they drive past, while others can't resist coming up to meet her.
Her mom said, "Panda (now Maizie) has fit into my husband’s and my life perfectly. She is smart and extremely sweet and loves people and other dogs. There have been no unexpected surprises, and she is better than I could have ever imagined. I love her so much, and she is perfect for a retired couple."

Panda is just one of countless dogs that have found a loving home thanks to our monthly Flight to Freedom. These life-saving flights wouldn't be possible without your support. Thank you for helping save lives.
